IHTM36063 - Reasonable excuse: loss of financial records or other papers

The loss of records through fire, flood or theft is a reasonable excuse. But you may need to ask for evidence of the circumstances. You will also need to be satisfied that information necessary for the completion of the account could not be replaced in time for it to be completed by the deadline.
