The opening up of the internet has changed the way in which company formation now takes place. In the region of 90% of company registrations are now made through formation agents that operate an on- line service that links directly to Companies House. Fees can be as low as £15.99 plus Companies House fees for the basic service. Higher fees are payable for a faster formation service. As this business is conducted over the internet there is no face to face contact between the formation agent and the client.

Formation is usually done in one of the two following ways:

• “off the shelf”
