NMWM05070 - Entitlement to National Minimum Wage: silent partners
A business partnership is an arrangement in which two or more individuals manage and operate a business. The term silent partner (also known as sleeping partner) is often used to describe an inactive partner in a business but one who retains an interest - usually financially.
A silent partner will be independently self-employed and will not qualify as a worker for the National Minimum Wage (NMWM04080).
If the business has workers then all the partners will be equally and personally liable for ensuring that the workers are paid at least the National Minimum Wage.
