NMWM06070 - Specific occupations and special groups: childcare sector

For National Minimum Wage purposes there are no special rules in respect of the childcare sector.

In 2005/06 the childcare sector was selected for education and targeted enforcement for compliance with National Minimum Wage legislation.

At that time the Department of Trade and Industry (now the Department for Business and Trade) (NMWM02020) produced a specific publication, “The National Minimum Wage and the childcare sector” which expanded on other guidance concerning trainees and apprentices and was issued via childcare employer organisations, training providers, relevant unions and direct mailing.
