- National Minimum Wage Act 1998, section 36 & 37(2)
Workers engaged in Crown employment, except for the armed forces (NMWM06040), are entitled to the National Minimum Wage in the normal way.
National Minimum Wage legislation defines Crown employment as:
- Employment under or for the purposes of a government department (such as a worker of HM Revenue & Customs), or
- Any officer or body exercising functions on behalf of the Crown conferred by statutory provision (such as a worker of the Low Pay Commission).
