Updated guidance on reviewing scheduled monument decisions
You have 28 days after the scheduling decision notification in which to challenge the decision.
Anyone can challenge a scheduling decision by requesting a review, but you can only do so up to 28 days after the decision notification has been made. The review will decide whether the original decision should be upheld, amended or overturned.
A review will only be carried out:
- If there is significant evidence that the original decision was wrong
- Where there was a significant factual error
- Where there was irregularity in the scheduling process
- If there is significant evidence which was not previously considered about the national importance of the monument
Please note that the inclusion of monuments in the schedule (or their removal from it) is at the discretion of the Secretary of State.
