Summary

Capsize of the fishing vessel Ocean Hound with the loss of five lives on 10/11 August 1991. Ocean Hound was probably involved in a collision or very close quarter situation with an unidentified vessel, causing her immediate capsize.

Safety Issues

  • the unknown vessel did not stop or report the accident. It is possible that the vessel was unaware of the collision; however, Ocean Hound’s presence ought to have been recognized well before the event if a proper lookout was being kept
