Module B certificate for bulkheads and decks: UK21/F005

Adopted EU recommendation FIRE-017. UK approved recommendation on whether a single Module B certificate can cover both bulkheads and decks.

Question

Can a single Module B certificate cover both fire rated bulkheads and decks?

Recommendation

The answer is “No”.

Fire rated bulkheads and decks, even though of similar construction, should be considered, in the light of their different arrangement on board, as different equipment. To avoid confusion, module B for fire rated bulkheads and decks should be issued separately. The same approach should be adopted for equipment under items UK/3.22, UK/3.26 and UK/3.27, i.e. Module B should be issued separately for the different orientation(s) (vertical or horizontal) such equipment have been tested.
