Module G certificates: UK21/G005

Adopted EU recommendation GEN-005. UK approved recommendation on the issuing of Module G certificates.

Question

Is it possible to issue a Module G certificate based on an existing Module B certificate?

Recommendation

No.

Module G certification is a standalone process covering the design, manufacture, testing and certification of a product to verify it is in accordance with the requirements of the international instruments.

This does not preclude a UK Approved Body from making use of approved design data in their possession from a previous Type Examination certificate. This decision would be at the discretion of the Approved Body.

Note 1: The module G certificate, would list the approval documentation in accordance with the requirements of the Directive with no reference made to the Module B certification.

Note 2: Each product certified under module G would be subject to the required type test.
