Question

Is it acceptable to issue certificates for on board exhaust gas cleaning systems, where for confirmation of the pH value in the overboard wash water a calculation method is used contrary to the actual measurements in the plume, as required by MEPC.184(59) superseded by MEPC.259(68)?

Recommendation

Yes, MEPC.259(68) superseding the MEPC. 184(59) allows to apply a calculation method for the overboard washwater.
