UK approved recommendation UK25/N001 on Electronic Record Books (ERB) as defined by SOLAS V/28 under category UK/4.66 of MSN 1874 amendment 10.
Question
Electronic Record Books (ERB) under category UK/4.66 of MSN 1874 were not included in Amendment 10. How should Approved Bodies and Manufacturers proceed with conformity assessments and certifications in light of the removal?
Recommendation
Category UK/4.66 was removed from MSN 1874 Amendment 10 in alignment with the EU MED 8th Implementing Regulation as anticipated by industry.
This category will be reintroduced in Amendment 11 which is due for publication in Autumn 2025.
In light of the above and until Amendment 11 is published, the following should be adopted:
• Approved Bodies should continue to assess and certify ERB in accordance with testing standards as originally set out in MSN 1874 Amendment 9.
• Manufacturers of ERB are advised to continue to obtain UK approval based on MSN 1874 Amendment 9.
