UK guidance on ETSI EN 300-338-7 (last placing onboard): UK24/R002

UK approved recommendation UK24/R002 on the ETSI EN 300-338-7 testing standards last placing onboard under category UK/5.2, UK/5.10, UK/5.11, UK/5.14, and UK/5.15 of MSN 1874 amendment 9.

Question

MSN 1874 amendment 9 indicates UK/5.1 has its last placing onboard to be 31 December 2027. Should this date be extended for UK/5.2, UK/5.10, UK/5.11, UK/5.14 and UK/5.15?

Recommendation

As per MSN 1874 amendment 9, there is a caveat to note that until IMO finalises its discussion regarding DSC within the BAM concept the UK does not require ETSI EN 300-338-7 V1.1.1:2022-04. This was extended to UK/5.10, UK/5.11, UK/5.14, and UK/5.15 in an earlier approved recommendation (UK guidance on ETSI EN 300-338-7:UK24/R001). The approved recommendation did not, however, cover the end dates for the last placing onboard.

As such, the last placing onboard date for all the above categories will be extended to 31 December 2027.

This will be updated in MSN 1874 amendment 10 when published.
