Adopted EU recommendation FIRE-050. UK approved recommendation on the substituting approved materials with untested materials.
Question
Is it acceptable to replace trademark-tested non-combustible insulation material with a similar non-combustible insulation material without testing?
Recommendation
Replacement of non-combustible insulation material in A/B class divisions, HSC divisions and fire doors without testing of the whole construction is not acceptable considering Annex 1, Part 3, Chapter 3.5.1 of the International Code for Application of Fire Test Procedures, 2010 (Res. MSC.307(88)), i.e. “The material used in the test shall not be replaced by any other materials that have not been tested in accordance with this Code and/or accepted by the Administration”.
