Hazard
The small magnetic balls were found to be small enough to fit completely into a small parts cylinder and as such, would be regarded as capable of presenting a choking hazard for a child under 3 years of age.
If two or more magnets are swallowed, there is a risk that the magnets become drawn to each other in the digestive system, which could cause severe injury or death if rapid medical attention not sought.
68 magnetic spheres were tested and 9 found to have a magnetic flux index greater than 50 kG2mm2, the highest value found being 70 kG2mm2.
The product was CE marked but does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011.
Corrective action
The product has been voluntarily withdrawn from the market and recalled from end users.
