Hazard
EN 61557-14, requires two-hand operation for test equipment when used for high voltage testing as an additional level of protection against electric shock during use. As of 1 July 2018, the shrouded test leads set initially supplied for use with the Machinery Tester, which required two-hand use, was inadvertently replaced with an alternative unshrouded test leads set that did not require two-hand operation. The inclusion of unshrouded test leads resulted in the machinery tester not being compliant with EN 61577-14 and not compliant with the essential health and safety requirements.
Corrective action
The unshrouded product has been recalled and the machinery tester product is now shipped with shrouded test leads.
Fluke is in the process of informing the distributors of the issue and requesting them (a) to stop selling the Machinery Testers in their stock and (b) to return this stock to Fluke.
Fluke is also in the process of informing the end-customers of the potential safety risk with instructions to (a) stop using the affected Machinery Testers with the original non-two hands test leads for high voltage testing and (b) register for a free set of shrouded two-hands use test leads for high voltage testing.
