Hazard

The product has been assessed as presenting a serious risk of drowning. The product was advertised as a life jacket, but once purchased was identified as a buoyancy aid (which does not provide the same level of protection). When tested, the red pull toggle of the inflation mechanism and the whistle easily detached from their cords, which would impair activation of the product when relied upon.

The product also requires improvements to marking, labelling and documentation.

The product does not meet the requirements of Regulation (EU) 2016/425 on Personal Protective Equipment or the Personal Protective Equipment (Enforcement) Regulations 2018.

Corrective action

OPSS is requiring the recall of the product from end users.

Owners are advised to cease use of the product and contact the distributor they purchased from to request redress.

The listing has been removed by the online marketplace (Wish).
