Hazard
The product presents a risk of choking as during tension testing the two plastic eyes detached at forces less than the specified minimum of 90 N. The detached components fit entirely inside of small parts cylinder, therefore if a child were to place the plastic eyes in their mouth, they may choke.
The product poses a strangulation hazard as it is foreseeable that the since the ribbon is easy to grip, a child could pull on the ribbon. The ribbon detached before the full tension could be applied, creating a free length of cord which exceeded the maximum 300mm specified. The fibrous internal stuffing material was also accessible via a hole found in the seam at the back of the toy. Some of the required documentation and markings were not present.
The product does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011.
Corrective action
All goods were seized from the retail premises and the product has been recalled from end users.
