Hazard

The product presents a chemical risk as 0.3% phthalates were detected in the blue monkey’s tail, which is greater than the 0.1% maximum permitted for toys which can be placed in the mouth by children. Excess concentrations of phthalates can damage the reproductive health of children. The toy does not meet the requirements of the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation & restriction of Chemicals (REACH) Enforcement Regulations 2008.

Corrective action

The authority has required a recall of the product from end users.
