Hazard
The products have been identified as presenting a risk of injuries as it is possible for the stems to become loose or detach, which can cause the user to fall.
The products do not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.
Corrective action
Consumers have been contacted by woom and/or the distributors of the products to warn them of the risks. Consumers will be provided with information directly on how to obtain a stem kit and instructions on how to repair the affected stems.
Alternatively, consumers can take their product to any bicycle shop to have the stem inspected/serviced by a bicycle mechanic. Consumers are advised to retain their receipt and they will be reimbursed for this service up to the value of £20.
The bicycle stem needs to be maintained over time (by the bike’s owner or a mechanic), just like any other bicycle component.
