Hazard

The product presents a serious risk of injuries as it can reach excessively high speeds of 40-60 kph, in excess of the maximum permissible speed. This can lead the scooter to become unsteady and make it easy for the rider to fall off, presenting a risk of serious injuries should this happen at speed. The product also did not have height adjustable handlebars, making it possible for the user (particularly taller users) to lose control and catch their limbs/items of clothing, leading to instability. It was also possible for the scooter to be powered while the charging cable was connected and providing power, which could lead to damage to the battery charger / scooter. The product also required improvements to markings, labelling and documentation.

The product does not meet the requirements of the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008.

Corrective action

The product has been destroyed at the border.
