Hazard

The product presents a high risk of electric shock as the plug and fuse supplied with the product does not comply with the British Standards 1363 and 1362. The lighting chain was marked as having a protection rating of IP44, e.g. protected from water splashed from all directions. The rating could not be tested as part of this assessment, but due to the lack of suitable gaskets it was considered that this level had not been met. Overtime the cables can degrade exposing the live wires. A consumer may not notice the exposed wires and may touch the cables to move them and receive an electric shock. The instructions provided were also considered inadequate. They did not provide sufficient information to ensure proper installation, use and maintenance.

The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.
