Hazard
The product presents a high risk of electric shock as the plug does not meet the dimensional requirements of the relevant standard. The shortcomings include that the dimensions of the sleeved parts of the plug’s pins differ from the metal parts of the pins. This results in a distinct step between the two. This could cause damage to the socket and undue wear and tear to the sleeve. Furthermore, the plug’s fuse does not meet the dimensional requirements of the relevant standard (BS 1362), the fuses end caps we insecurely fixed and no filler was present, which is required to ensure safe operation of the fuse under fault conditions. The product also requires improvements to markings and labelling.
The product does not meet the requirements of the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008.
Corrective action
The import has been rejected and destroyed at the border.
