Hazard

The product has been identified as presenting a serious risk of injuries and death as there was no chain brake, which is required to prevent injury from potential kick back. The front guard and the rear hand guard did not meet the necessary dimensional requirements as set out in the relevant standard to protect against injury.

The product also possessed poor internal build quality connections with wires soldered directly to the PCB, and the insulation barrier had an insufficient creepage distance. The transformer was of a poor build quality as the primary and secondary windings were found to be touching, leading the lacquer to break down and present a hazard of fire, explosion and electric shock.

The plug face also did not meet the dimensional requirements, presenting a risk of electric shock. The product required multiple improvements to labelling, markings and documentation.

The product does not meet the requirements of the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008.

Corrective action

The product has been destroyed at the border.

The listing has been removed by the online marketplace (eBay).
