Hazard

The product presents a medium risk of electric shock as the UK plug transformer failed to comply with minimum creepage distances requirements of 2.5mm for basic insulation and 5.0mm for reinforced insulation. For basic insulation a creepage distance of 1.7mm was measured between live and neutral tracks and 2.1mm between reinforced insulation barriers on the PCB. When tested, a voltage breakdown occurred at approximately 2000V between primary inputs and secondary SELV outputs on the plug transformer against a required 1-minute application of 2960V for reinforced insulation. An investigation of the root cause of the voltage breakdown was found to be an unapproved 2kV capacitor breaking down between the primary and secondary barrier on the PCB. The protective insulated cover of the 4-pin SELV connector on the LED strip light was insecurely mounted and the product did not contain a rating label. Some of the required documentation and markings were not present.

The product does not comply with the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.
