Hazard

The product presents a serious risk of electric shocks as the luminaire was inadequately earthed and the clamping was not adequately secured against loosening. Over time, the clamping could become loose, meaning that because of the lack of earthing, the user would receive a mains voltage electric shock if they were to touch the metal part of the lamp. Additionally, the supply cords had not been fully entered into the luminaire, giving the consumer access to the basic insulation. The insulation was basic and could easily expose the wiring, which could also give the consumer an electric shock.

The instructions were considered to be inadequate as they did not contain sufficient information to ensure the correct and safe use of the equipment. The product was also missing some required documentation and markings.

The product does not comply with the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.

Corrective action

Import rejected at the border. Removal of the listing by the online marketplace (Amazon).
