Hazard
The product presents a serious chemical risk as when tested, excess concentrations of phthalates were detected from the inner red wire of the sword casing. Phthalates may harm the health of children, causing possible damage to their reproductive system. The flexible plastic bag used for packaging has an area greater than 100mm x 100mm and the bag thickness measured 0.031 ± 0.002mm which is less than the minimum 0.038mm specified, which further presents an asphyxiation hazard.
The product does not meet the requirements of the REACH Regulations 2008 or the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011.
Corrective action
Destruction of the product at the border.
