The product presents a serious risk of burns as the plug on this sample did not comply with BS1363 as it had not been fitted with a fuse conforming to BS1362. The fuse had not been supplied with any granular filler. The filler is required to ensure the safe operation of the fuse under fault conditions. The lack of protection presents a risk of overheating.
The instructions supplied with the product were inadequate as they did not contain sufficient information to ensure the correct and safe use of the equipment. The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.
