Hazard
The product presents a high risk of electric shock due to inadequate insulation levels. The flying leads were simply connected to a terminal block, leaving metal parts insulated from live parts by basic insulation only. Should this basic insulation fail, accessible metal parts could become live, causing the user to receive an electric shock. The product also failed the electric strength test as the insulation broke down when the 3000V test voltage was applied.
The instructions were deemed inadequate as they did not contain sufficient information to ensure the product is correctly and safely installed, used and maintained. Some of the required documentation and markings were not present.
The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.
