Hazard

The product presents a serious risk of electric shock as the transformer had not been provided with a dedicated earthing terminal. If a surge in a current or a fault with the product were to occur, the product could become live and electrocute the consumer. The plug fitted to this sample did not comply with BS1363. The instructions supplied with the product are inadequate as they did not contain sufficient information to ensure the correct and safe use of the equipment. The electrical equipment had also not been marked with the name, trademark, or other means for the identification of the manufacturer as required by the regulation.

The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.

Corrective action

The import has been rejected and destroyed at the border.
