Hazard

Following analysis, the cream was found to contain 5.1% w/w hydroquinone, which is not permitted for use in cosmetic products. Hydroquinone was not listed as an ingredient. Hydroquinone is a skin sensitiser and may cause allergic contact dermatitis.

The product was also found to contain two glucocorticoid substances, clobetasol propionate and betamethasone dipropionate. Glucocorticoids (Corticosteroids) are prohibited in cosmetic products.

The product does not comply with The Cosmetic Products Enforcement Regulations 2013.

Corrective action

The product has been destroyed at the border.
