Hazard

The product presents a risk of electric shock as it is inadequately earthed and does not make the consumer aware in the instructions. If the product was to have a fault, there would be no earthing to stop it from becoming live. The LED driver failed the electric strength test. It allowed a flashover when the test voltage was applied between the input and output circuits. The requirements for class II construction had not been met. There was no mention for the need of the installer to provide supplementary insulation. An incorrect installation could leave metal parts separated from live parts only by basic insulation. The instructions supplied with this product were inadequate. They did not contain adequate safety information and details to ensure the correct and safe use and installation of the product.

The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.

Corrective action

The import has been rejected at the border. Update: 02 May 2023: The product has been recalled from end users by Super Smart Services.
