Hazard
The product presents a serious risk of electric shock and fire due to the poor build quality. The product had poor quality crimped connections with wires being crimped incorrectly creating the potential for resistive joints and the hazard of fire. The earth was fixed with a bolt that had not been fully screwed down and is likely to come loose over time. The plug face did not meet the dimensional requirements of BS 1363 because the distance between the outside edge and the neutral measured at 7.6mm where the standard requires this measurement to be a minimum of 9.5mm, therefore present an electric shock hazard. The internal of the plug had not been moulded correctly and could be seen out of the bottom of the plug.
The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 and Plugs & Sockets (Safety) Regulations 1994.
Corrective action
