Hazard
The product presents a high risk of electric shock as the dimensions of the plug do not meet the requirements of the relevant standard. The pins are too close to the edge of the plug, meaning the user could touch the live pins when inserting or removing the plug from the socket, receiving an electric shock. The appliance was also inadequately earthed, with insufficient securing against accidental loosening and an insufficient cross-sectional area of the earth wire, and was supplied with a noncompliant fuse. The product also required improvements to marking, labelling and documentation.
The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.
Corrective action
The import has been rejected at the border and destroyed.
