Hazard
When tested in accordance with 8.3 (torque test) the blue ‘collar’ unscrewedfrom the shaft of the pen before reaching the specified minimum of 34cNm. The detached collar and nib component fitted wholly inside the small parts cylinder, and therefore poses a serious risk of choking to a child under 36 months.
The product’s flexible plastic bag used for packaging also has an area greater than 100mm x 100mm and the bag thickness measured as 0.034 ± 0.002mm which is less than the minimum permissible limit of 0.038mm. The bag therefore poses a potential asphyxiation hazard.
This product does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011.
Corrective action
The import was rejected at the border.
