Renew a patent, trade mark or registered design
Use this service to renew up to 1,500 patents, trade marks or registered designs and sign up for renewal reminders.
Check the renewal fees and when your patent, your trade mark and your registered design should be renewed. If you do not renew, you’ll lose the protection on your patent, trade mark or registered design.
You’ll need:
- an email address
- your patent, your trade mark or your registered design numbers
- a debit or credit card, or an Intellectual Property Office (IPO) deposit account with sufficient funds
If you use an IPO deposit account to pay for your renewal, the main account holder will also receive a confirmation email with details of what has been renewed and how much it cost.

Restore a patent, trade mark or registered design by post
You can restore a patent by post within 19 months of it expiring.
You can restore a trade mark by post if it expired more than 6 months ago but less than a year ago.
You can restore a registered design by post if you missed the 6 month deadline for late renewal.
