A Framework for Evaluating Innovation Challenges

Proposes an approach to learning from innovation challenges run by the government, public sector, and non-profit institutions

Abstract

This brief proposes an approach to learning from innovation challenges run by the government, public sector, and non-profit institutions. An innovation challenge awards a prize to a problem-solver who achieves a pre-specified goal. We present an evaluation framework for sponsors and managers to use to improve the design and implementation of future innovation challenges, by learning from existing challenges what works and what does not work.
