AIDS, science and citizenship after apartheid

Abstract

This chapter discusses ideas such as the 'democratization of science' in the context of the AIDS pandemic in Africa. A case study of the Treatment Action Campaign in South Africa is used to discuss the opportunities and constraints for mediation and negotiation between experts and public groups. Owing to copyright restrictions, only the first 3 pages are attached, together with a link to the book at Zed Books.
