Anti-malarials databases
Abstract
A set of Excel databases (in PC and MAC versions) listing compounds reported as having antimalarial activity is provided; each database contains records from one journal. The journals included are: Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy (1972 to July 2005), Bioorganic and Medicinal Chemistry (1993-2005), Bioorganic and Medicinal Chemistry Letters (1991 to Oct. 2005), Journal of Medicinal Chemistry (1959 to Aug. 11 2004), Journal of Biological Chemistry (1905 to Jan. 22 2005), Molecular and Biochemical Parasitology (1995 to Sept. 2005; this is the only journal where coverage does not start with vol. 1), Molecular Pharmacology (1965 to Mar. 2006) and PNAS (1915-2002). Each database entry includes, where available, the volume and page number of the article, the target of the compound, its structure, different indicators of in vitro and in vivo efficacy, and the route of administration. It is stated that the intention is to add more databases, covering patent literature as well as primary literature. It is hoped that these databases will enable neglected compounds that have shown promise in the past to be developed as clinical candidates.
