Classical biological control of Mikania micrantha with Puccinia spegazzinii: Implementation Phase. Final Technical Report.

Abstract

The project purpose was to implement a classical biological control (CBC) strategy for Mikania micrantha H.B. K. (Asteraceae), or mile-a-minute weed, using a rust fungus (Puccinia spegazzinii) from Trinidad, identified and assessed under Phase I (R6735), in Southwest and Northeast India. The project involved 4 Indian organisations; Kerala Forest Research Institutes (KFRI); Project Directorate of Biological Control (PDBC), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR); Assam Agricultural University (AAU) and National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources (NBPGR), and CABI Bioscience, UK. The project consisted of nine main research areas.
