Comparison of different drying techniques in Madagascar
Abstract
This study investigated the effect on the artemisinin content of various techniques usually used in Madagascar (as well as some others) for drying Artemisia. The conclusions were that: long drying durations (up to 3 weeks) did not cause damage, and if well managed could increase artemisinin content; covering plants at night or in case of rain had no effect; and the colour of leaves is not a criterion for quality.
