Contribution of new entrants in the middle and upper income groups community development in the Kumasi peri-urban interface.
Abstract
This report documents research which aimed to identify new entrants in Kumasi peri-urban villages and to examine their contributions to overall community development.
The report discusses the contribution of new entrants to the economic development of the poor and to infrastructure and service development, as well as the impact of new entrants on the human heterogeneity of peri-urban villages.
The report concludes that on one hand new entrants weaken the culture, economy and environment of the Kumasi peri-urban interface while on the other they positively add to the development of livelihood opportunities for themselves and other peri-urban inhabitants.
