Corporate Social Responsibility and Natural Disaster Reduction in Sri Lanka.
Abstract
Based on face-to-face interviews within 15 private sector companies in Sri Lanka on corporate social responsibility (CSR) in the context of natural disaster reduction, this paper presents (1) the study background outlining the disaster context in Sri Lanka; (2) methodology; (3) Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and the private sector in Sri Lanka; (4) CSR and natural disaster reduction, the forms of intervention; (5) general issues in CSR and disaster reduction; and (6) conclusions and recommendations. An annex of case studies of CSR and disaster reduction is included.
