Development of Strategies for Sustainable Shrimp Farming. Final Technical Report.
Abstract
Increasing signs of unsustainability of shrimp culture in Thailand provided the opportunity to study the underlying causes of declining productivity and farm failure. The need for adoption of new methods of shrimp production which can be integrated into the sustainable development of coastal resources has provided the rationale for this project. Three broad interlinking areas were investigated: production, management and impact; systems and environment; and inputs and conversion.
This final report describes the project objectives, contributing personnel, and provides a summary of the work carried out. The project results, implications for development and priority tasks for follow-up are discussed. Conferences attended and publications resulting from the project are listed.
