Abstract

This briefing highlights research that identifies potential deficiencies in the reporting of instances of torture and ill-treatment amongst the poorest members of society, and suggests actions that might be progressed to address these.

This research examined the documentation of torture and ill-treatment in Kenya, Nepal and Bangladesh. It was carried out by(Danish Institute Against Torture (Dignity) and the University of Edinburgh.

This work is part of ‘A Comparative Analysis of the Documentation of Torture and Ill-Treatment in Low-Income Countries’ project supported by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and the UK Department for International Development.
