E-journals: Developing Country Access Survey 2002.
Abstract
In 2002, INASP was commissioned to undertake a survey of initiatives that were in place to enable access to e-journals within the developing world. The survey approached individual publishers and publishing societies to ascertain what programmes they were involved with, or if they had their own programme to make their publications available. The survey showed that there was good will amongst the publishers to make their content available as widely as possible within the developing world, at a low cost, or free. However, it showed that the majority of publishers were unwilling to establish their own programmes, and were looking to international initiatives to facilitate access on their behalf.
