Evidence on Demand summary. Aquaculture for food security and poverty reduction: scoping for trilateral UK/India/LIC research

This summary was commissioned to identify a set of research questions for links between aquaculture, food security and poverty reduction

Abstract

The Global Research Partnership Programme (GRP) will support improved collaborative research between the UK, India and low income country (LIC) institutions on issues of food security, health and women. GRP will draw on the unique expertise of each partner to address critical research questions and build the global evidence base in the above three priority areas where demand for new evidence is strong. GRP will attempt to test new approaches, innovations and delivery models across different environmental and cultural settings. The trilateral structure will ensure research findings are relevant to global development challenges, enable cross-fertilisation of ideas and learning, and build the capacity of LIC researchers and institutions through joint collaborative research opportunities. UK and Indian research partners are keen to develop a research call around aquaculture. Evidence on Demand was commissioned to identify a set of priority research questions for research into the links between aquaculture, food security and poverty reduction.
