Fisheries and aquaculture and their potential roles in development: an assessment of the current evidence

Abstract

A review and analysis of key research and evidence relating to the fisheries and aquaculture sector in developing countries and its relationship with economic growth and nutrition and food security. This covers existing evidence and ‘evidence in the pipeline’ (i.e. to be published imminently) from the existing literature. The strength of evidence is assessed (in the sense, scientific rigor) and knowledge/evidence gaps are identified. In addition, the review includes a map of existing relevant interventions in fisheries and aquaculture.
