Fisheries and livelihoods. FMSP Policy Brief 4.
Abstract
Fisheries, especially in developing countries, contribute to livelihoods in a range of ways: directly as food, as a source of income and through other social benefits, such as reduced vulnerability.
This brief gives examples from the FMSP of the contributions that fisheries make to people's livelihoods, especially in developing countries, and considers the implications for policy and future work priorities.
