From Dilemma to Decision.
Abstract
The effects of white spot disease of shrimps on the livelihoods of poor farmers of the Mekong Delta of Vietnam, who rely on a rice-shrimp farming system, are outlined. Shrimp mortality may reach 100% within 3-10 days of the first symptoms. The help and advice given to farmers in Vietnam and in India as a result of epidemiological research on this disease is briefly described.
