Genetic variability and plant character association of grain Fe and Zn in selected core collection accessions of sorghum germplasm and breeding lines.

Abstract

The main aim of this study was to identify promising donors in the core collection of sorghum germplasm accessions and breeding lines that have high grain Fe and Zn contents that can be used to develop biofortified sorghum cultivars. Significant positive correlations were found between grain Fe and Zn contents, and five accessions were identified that could be used to develop sorghum hybrids with higher Fe and Zn contents.
